'Amir khan Stole My idea in Taare Zameen Par' says Shakuntala devi-2008

After the success of ‘Taare Zameen Par’, Aamir Khan garnered rave reviews for his wonderful representation of a social issue. However, mathematician and writer Shakuntala Devi has declared that the idea of a kid troubled by dyslexia has been taken from her book ‘In the Wonderland of Numbers’. She is irked by the fact that complete chapters and incidents have been pulled out of her book. But the Bollywodd megastar has not hinted at all about borrowing from the number-whiz.

"Some of the things shown in Taare Zameen Par have been taken straight from my book. People ask me why I don't sue the producer of the Aamir Khan movie," she said to a news daily, adding, "I expect him to write a letter explaining why he did this."

Author of twenty-two books, this 69 year old live-wire has expressed wish to adapt her book, where the protagonist is a nine-year-old girl, into a movie. She said, “I am considering Rajnikant or some other producer for the movie. I wrote the book as a movie script.”

She added enthusiastically about the book that Kamal Hassan has complemented her saying that the proposed movie could cause a worldwide sensation if she found an intelligent producer capable of utilising the material in the book.

Previously, she had stated ‘Red Rose’, a Rajesh Khanna starrer Bollywood venture, to be plagiarism of her short story ‘The Whole World is Mad’. The story was published in a fortnightly long before the movie was made.
